How much does the internet know about YOU?

Because her mom is always on the move, Steph hasn’t lived anyplace longer than six months. Her only constant is an online community called CatNet—a social media site where users upload cat pictures—a place she knows she is welcome. What Steph doesn’t know is that the admin of the site, CheshireCat, is a sentient A.I.

When a threat from Steph’s past catches up to her and ChesireCat’s existence is discovered by outsiders, it’s up to Steph and her friends, both online and IRL, to save her.

Praise for Catfishing on Catnet

“The characters offer positive, realistic LGBTQIA+ representation―especially nonbinary identities and characters still exploring their identities. Refreshingly, the characters also feel like generally-woke-but-still-imperfect humans. Wickedly funny and thrilling in turns; perfect for readers coming-of-age online.” ―Kirkus, starred review

“Kritzer’s take on a benevolent AI is both whimsical and poignant. An entertaining, heart-filled exploration of today’s online existence and privacy concerns.” ―Publishers Weekly, starred review

“Smart, sly, scary, and irrepressibly good fun, this novel has everything I’ve ever wanted from a story: it is a cerebral, funny, tender, big-idea delight. I can’t wait for you to read it.”―Kelly Barnhill, Newbery Award-winning author of The Girl Who Drank the Moon

“An absolutely charming and incredibly gripping, superbly plotted YA thriller.” ―Cory Doctorow, New York Times bestselling author of Little Brother

“Kritzer’s flawless collection taps deep wells of emotion and wonder…. Her work is indisputably speculative, but it’s a perfect entry point to the genre for readers who prefer fantastical and futuristic elements to stay more in the background, with human (and robotic) feelings always at the fore. This splendid treat is not to be missed.” ―Publishers Weekly, starred review, on Cat Pictures Please and Other Stories

Review

What a unique but also kind of realistic story! I mean, we are so reliant on technology and I feel like way too many people don’t at least question security/safety issues enough. But even without all of that this is a highly enjoyable story and it’s something that I rarely see touched upon in books.

So, let me start by saying I want a social media site where cat photos are the currency! I mean, I’d like to think I’d be rich with all of the photos I have of my two crazy kitties! But a lot of crazy things happen throughout the story, so be prepared, buckle up, and get ready for a bumpy and wildly thrilling ride. Plus I really enjoyed the characters and they’re diverse enough to give everyone someone to love.

I really loved this book and all of the craziness inside. It’s a super fast read that will get your mind spinning. And it’s worth it for the concept alone, but it’s also just a really funny story amidst all of the deeper plots! Plus it’s really melodramatic in all of the best ways, and you know that I am the same way so instant connection there.

Review

I’m always so satisfied and happy with duologies! There’s something just so special about fitting in the story in two books. And while I still want more, as I always do with duologies, the ending was a solid finale to these two books. But me wanting more is probably why I like duologies so much. I ALWAYS want more because I never feel like the story drags on for too long. And I’m happy with occasionally leaving a series begging for more books down the road.

In this second book we really get to see the sisters come into their own. You definitely see growth from them both in this book and honestly I couldn’t ask for more than that when looking for character development. I love when the changes are visible but not necessarily a huge and implausible change. But this story as a whole is really exciting and will take you on yet another wild ride leading all the way to the end. There are some bumps along the way but throughout it I remained engaged and needing to learn what happens next.

I really enjoyed this duology and look forward to seeing what Larson comes up with next! There was so much excitement in this series but even amidst all of that we still got solid character development between the first and second books.

Shannon Price’s A Thousand Fires is a breakout contemporary debut―think The Outsiders meets The Iliad―that’s perfect for fans of Courtney Summers and Veronica Roth.

10 Years. 3 Gangs. 1 Girl’s Epic Quest…

Valerie Simons knows the city’s gang wars are dangerous—her own brother was killed by the Boars two years ago. But nothing will sway her from joining the elite and beautiful Herons to avenge his death—a death she feels responsible for.

But when Valerie is recruited by the mysterious Stags, their charismatic and volatile leader Jax promises to help her get revenge. Torn between old love and new loyalty, Valerie fights to stay alive as she races across the streets of San Francisco to finish the mission that got her into the gangs.

Praise for A Thousand Fires

Praise for A THOUSAND FIRES

“A Thousand Fires pulls you in close and shows you the essence of what it means to keep fighting. Shannon Price is one to watch.” ―Gwenda Bond, New York Times bestselling author of Stranger Things: Suspicious Minds

“Brutal and beautiful, A THOUSAND FIRES broke my heart. A fast-paced tragedy of love, betrayal, and vengeance.” ―Heidi Heilig, author of FOR A MUSE OF FIRE

“Modern, unflinching and filled with haunting, lingering imagery, A Thousand Fires gives the story of the Iliad the bare-knuckled update it deserves.” ―Colleen Oakes, author of The Black Coats

“Fast-paced… Vivid descriptions and intricate details bring San Francisco to life … A promising debut.” ―Kirkus

“A heart-wrenching tale… action-packed and intense… A fantastic read.” ―School Library Journal

Review

The Outsiders is one of my all time favorite books and I of course love any Greek story (à la The Iliad), so you can imagine my excitement when I saw this book. And while A Thousand Fires does have some similarities between the two, it is its own story. And let me just say that it is a story that you won’t be able to put down! This is just one of those really fast paced enjoyable reads, plus it deals with gangs and aren’t those always really amazing stories to begin with?

Now, is this book on the same level as its two comparisons? No, but also thats because Price has her own style and her own story. And I really appreciate that (plus The Outsiders is a little too high in my books I love category, so it’s really an unfair comparison to begin with). I am kind of over retellings and I much prefer seeing a smattering of similarities/references throughout versus a near verbatim replay of the original stories. But this story was so expertly woven and I really enjoyed the plot within.

As with any book revolving gangs there are a LOT of characters. And that’s what honestly made this book stand out for me. The characters weren’t just thrown in willy nilly and mentioned for the sake of having more faces. They were well fleshed out and I really got to know and love many of them. And they’re all also incredibly real. These are characters that (probably more often than not) don’t always make the best decisions and are fighting to survive. And I love reading about characters like that, give me all the rough around the edges characters to baby!

Review

IT’S HERE!!!!! I. T. S. H. E. R. E. Ok, had to get that out. But I seriously feel like I’ve been waiting for this series since I first read the Lux series way back when. I mean young me DEFINITELY needed a series about smooshy-sarcastic Luc. And honestly old me needed it too. And I will NEVER complain about getting to spend more time with these characters. I mean they’re some of my favorite ever, which is probably pretty obvious by the amount of times I’ve reread the Lux, and now Origins, series.

So, my one issue with this series is just how much it’s made me love Luc (and honestly, it’s not an issue don’t worry even though I worry). Like, I will always love and adore Daemon Black, but goodness do I have to admit that Luc is weaseling his way in to try and knock Daemon out of top spot. And I am shook by that because I didn’t think it would ever be possible. But man asides from that, this series hurt. It took a while to take off but once it did it made me sad to realize that all the hope for the future I felt at the end of the Lux series was just thrown down the drain and ground up in the garbage disposal. But I mean, there’s always that light at the end of the tunnel. OR IS THERE?! I don’t know, I’m not giving away spoilers and after the ending to the second book I know you want them.

Am I bit melodramatic about this series? Yes, I am melodramatic about any JLA series but if my Lux babies are involved I become even worse! These characters have been a part of my heart for so many years and I relish any new adventures I get to take with them and rediscover no matter how many times I decide to reread them. And I guess I should stop my review here because I’m just going to continue to gush and ramble about it.

Praise for Midnight at the Blackbird Cafe

“Full of family secrets, undeniable charm and that particular touch of magic so often found in the South, MIDNIGHT AT THE BLACKBIRD CAFE is a heartfelt and redemptive tale of a daughter looking to move forward in the place her mother couldn’t wait to leave behind. Heather Webber creates a town as dynamic and real as her characters—and a story so compelling that it will stay on readers’ minds long after the final page. I savored every word.” —Kristy Woodson Harvey, national bestselling author of Slightly South of Simple

“Midnight at the Blackbird Cafe is an enchanting gem of a novel, brimming with charming characters, heartwarming connections, old secrets, and a southern setting that makes you want to move there. As refreshing as a glass of blackberry tea, this is truly magical realism at its best!” —Karen White, New York Times bestselling author

“Family, fate, and magic intertwine in this endearing Southern tale of long-held secrets, homemade pie, and building one’s future from the remains of the past. A tantalizing, delicious delight, through and through. Heather Webber writes with so much detail and imagination that I’ll be craving some Blackbird Cafe pie—and the comfort that comes with it—for a long time to come.” —Kristin Harmel, international bestselling author of The Room on Rue Amélie and The Sweetness of Forgetting

Review

This book is just as cute as a button. Ok, but puns aside this is such a wholesome and sweet read. It features intricate characters, a wonderful story, a look into the south, and a hint of magic. This book takes you into the story and it feels so real, even though there is some magic involved. You are given time to become invested in the characters and digest the story as you dive deeper and deeper into the book.

There’s something about magical realism that always lures me in. It’s probably because it always feels like you’re on the verge of something new and it just twists and turns your brain. And the writing is always just so lyrical and beautiful. But that’s also what this story is: beautiful. There are secrets, twists, turns, and yet it’s still a story about the characters. They matter, and a lot of times I think that the stories forget about the characters and focus on solely on the action.

All in all this book has made me a fan of Webber and I really must check out all that she has (and has yet to) written. This is such a delightful story that will help take your mind off of things and drop you into a wonderful bubble of a world.
