About the Book

Book 2 of the Brambles Series.

Sidney’s dad is a dick. Well . . . actually, he’s an incubus with a foul temper, terrible fashion sense, and a god complex. Obsessed with turning Sidney into the perfect vessel for the Kent curse, he tampered with every aspect of her life. He thought he molded her destiny—she’d end the Kent curse on his terms by marrying the ghost he chose and dooming the other to oblivion. He had complete control. He was sure. He’d penned his fairytale and the ending was in the bag.

Too bad Sidney fought back. When faced with losing the ghost she cared for and the one she longed for, she chose herself. She chose her own life over theirs. That wasn’t the plan.

To continue his sick game, the incubus has turned the ghosts mortal, lengthened the timeline of the curse, and stolen away Sidney’s best friend, Aziah.

Sidney, along with her former ghosts and her Bastmau (feline protector), embarks on a quest to find Aziah, but the closer they get to the incubus, the more volatile Sidney becomes. Something is very wrong. . . .

Soon, Sidney’s faced with a new choice—a choice to change her life and her destiny. A choice to let herself lose control for the first time in her life. A choice that would make her truly powerful—the choice to explore her succubus side.

Along with the dark and charming Dorian, Sidney’s about to let loose, explore her sexuality, and totally lose control.

Hello, chaos.

Sleeping Beauty lore meets paranormal romance in this exciting sequel to Brambles that explores not only Sidney’s need for freedom, but her own sexuality as Sidney comes out as a bisexual character and a new, gorgeous, love interest is introduced.

So, if you read my review of Brambles you’ll remember I said I was happy that I had this book ready to go for as soon as I finished the first. That’s because Thorns picked up right from where Brambles left off. So we get to start right in the middle of the action and it just kept going from there.

The other thing I promised to talk about in this review is my new favorite character: Rax. Thorax started off as just a cat in the first thing and showed himself to be a Bastmau by the end of the book. AND he also showed that he can talk! And he’s just as sassy and snarky as is expected. So not only are there two awesome “ghosts/”mortals, there’s also Rax to look forward to.

The only bad thing about finishing Thorns is that I now have to wait for the next book in the series. The third book, Thicket, will be coming out July 20 so I don’t have TOO long to wait but I will be impatiently waiting for it. This series has just drawn me in and I am fully invested in where everything is going to go. Also, check below to learn more about Thicket, or at least just to ogle the gorgeous cover for it.

Thicket – Brambles Book 3

Sidney died.
The end?
Oh, but this is a fairy tale, and the heroine can’t really die . . . can she?

Having been brought back to life by the Golden Dawn Coven, Sidney has vowed to turn from her succubus ways and end her incubus father, freeing herself to finally end the curse on her own terms. It would be so much easier, though, if her demonic side wasn’t constantly trying to make her kiss everyone. Along with the two ghosts from the curse, a beautiful pink-haired witch is after Sidney’s heart.

But things are changing . . . the coven has informed Sidney that because of her role in the curse (the fact that she’s a Wilkins woman born to end the curse), she’s going to become an Apt—a messenger of the gods imbued with godly powers. She’ll be godly, if she can defeat her demon side. This would be great news if it wasn’t tied to a ghastly vision of her own death at the hand of the incubus. Here’s hoping that visions can be wrong. . . .

In order to take hold of her destiny, Sidney is charged with exploring the Thicket—an otherworldly holding place for Reginald and Dorian, the ghosts attached to the curse. Because of her death (and subsequent raising), she’s able to explore the Thicket as long as either Reginald or Dorian go with her. For as the Golden Dawn Coven warns: she could go crazy or get lost in the Thicket if she’s not careful. It’s a chance that Sidney has to take as the witches’ visions have shown that the Thicket holds the answer—not only to ending Sidney’s incubus father, but maybe even to ending the curse without one of the ghosts having to die. It’s a chance for Sidney to finally live her own life—not one of ghosts and magic and curses. It’s a chance she has to take.

Along with her human friends, talking Bastmau (feline familiar), Reginald, and Dorian, Sidney is off to find the answers she needs to end her father and the curse before time runs out.

Thicket is the fast-paced, heart-pounding ending to the Brambles Series, sure to leave readers on the edge of their seats until the very last page.

About the Author

A little about me: I’m an author, lover of creepy-cute things (you know sparkly skulls and black unicorns and candles that melt and show skeletons), and an all around weirdo. I’m the happiest when playing with my kitties or exploring a haunted cemetery. I love YA books. If I could, I would live in one. Just not The Hunger Games. I want to live!!

I’ve just finished the Brambles Series and am working on a dystopian series that will release late 2020/early 2021. It’s super dark and I’m super excited.
