After concluding their first year at Lorian Heights, Corin and his friends catch a train from their native Valia to the distant country of Caelford.
For most, this would be a simple vacation. Corin has other plans:
Meet Anabelle Farren, the eccentric owner of Farren Labs, and learn about artificial attunements.
Seek out Warren Constantine, a previous Arbiter, for training and a potential alliance.
Find the visage Ferras herself to seek a cure for Sera’s condition.
Of course, Corin is Corin, and there’s absolutely no chance he’s going to be able to stick to a list. Even if he miraculously developed a sense of focus, he isn’t the only one with plans….
The Blackstone Bandit. Everyone’s favorite mysterious book entity. The aforementioned Farren. A vacationing professor. The mirror of a figure from Keras’ past. When their plots intersect, Corin and his friends are, predictably, stuck at the center.
It’s going to be a long vacation.

Shadowspeak by Raven Eckman Publisher: Fox Pointe Publishing Release Date: January 2021 Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy
Once there was a girl who spoke to shadows…
Rune’s mother is uncaring and her brother is too young to protect her, so when Rune’s father sells her to the depraved city of Wraith at the young age of ten, no one stops him. His last words to her are of a debt he cannot pay. The shadows who’ve kept Rune company as long as she can remember seem to know what he speaks of and yet they keep their silence.
And so Rune grows up living in servitude to Wraith’s brothel and its manipulative mistress, Agata, all while having only the faintest recollections of her forgotten childhood. Years later when she finally escapes Wraith, a wild place wrapped up in hedonism and old world ritual, she vows to never return…
When a child prince is kidnapped by a masked killer in a neighboring kingdom, however, Rune no longer has a choice. Joined by Weylin, her old love and a fellow Wraith runaway, she returns to the accursed city and the shadows of her past.
Not all is as it seems as threads of memory begin to unravel, revealing old lies and dark secrets.

His voice drops and, suddenly, he’s stronger and faster. He’s finally getting everything he wanted, but his newfound popularity comes at a price. Gar has to work harder to impress his new friends. The dares keep getting bigger and the stakes keep getting higher.
When Gar realizes the extent of his physical changes, he has to dig deep and face the truth about himself–and the people who truly matter–before his life spirals out of control.
I’ve said it time and time again, but DC is KILLING it with these new graphic novels! They’re just so elevated and fresh! And I love seeing all of the authors I recognize for their books adapting their writing for a graphic novel. And the added plus is seeing these adaptations to characters I already know and love. I mean, I grew up watching Teen Titans so I of COURSE squealed when I saw Beast Boy!
Now, was Beast Boy my favorite of the Teen Titans? No, I’ve always been a sucker for Raven. But was he a close second? You bet! So my enthusiasm for this one was obviously through the roof. And then when I saw who the illustrator was I might have salivated a little bit. I mean, if you’re not familiar with Picolo’s work you definitely need to remedy that! I’m a sucker for good illustrations and there’s just something about his line work and eye for color that draws me in!
Honestly, this graphic novel is perfect for so many people. People who love comics, who want the nostalgia of Teen Titans, those who love graphic novels, and those who might even just be intrigued. It’s a great story wrapped up in a quick read that you can extend by staring at every little detail in the illustrations. So, the holy grail of graphic novels!
