About the Book
How can parents and caregivers explain to the children in their life that, even though some things will be different this year, Christmas magic remains the same?
That’s easy! Let Santa do it!
“Santa in a Snow Globe” is the origin story of how and why St. Nick will be found sitting “in a place that it clear and quite round” when families come to share their wish lists with him this holiday season.
Relayed straightforwardly by Santa to author AH Edelman and illustrated with inclusiveness by Serge Gall–whose work has appeared in publications including The New York Times, Esquire, and The New Yorker–Santa in a Snow Globe offers a starting point for grownups to talk about life’s new realities–including climate change, the Coronavirus and Black Lives Matter protests–with their kids.
So curl up with your kids while Santa shares his recent observations about the world and offers some timeless advice that includes some hard truths but concludes with a big dose of Christmas cheer.
I went out to run some errands today and Christmas music was playing in the stores, so honestly this is the perfect day for this tour! And I mean, 2020 needs a little Christmas spirit (can you guess my favorite holiday? Haha)! But this book is so adorable and so perfect for this year. It holds all of the joy and magic of Christmas but also puts into perspective how things have changed this year.
As with everything this year, Christmas is going to bring about something new and unexpected. It’ll be a completely different type of Christmas since we’re in the middle of a pandemic and with that comes a lot of questions not only from the adults, but also the kids. This adorable book will help opening up those conversations we need to have about the holiday season while still bringing that cheer and joy that many of us associate with the season.
I really enjoyed this book as well as the illustrations throughout. Everything just fit perfectly into a little 2020 bubble but I cold see this book being read for many years to come. It contains a lot of motifs that are just a part of the season and I hope that it brings some joy to families.
