The Girl the Sea Gave Back by Adrienne Young isn’t necessarily a book that will leave you with a lot of thoughts. It is more of a feeling, a journey through the magic, that leaves you reeling to collect yourself back up again.
Is it a love story? No, do not going into this book expecting for romance to be the forefront. This book is about finding yourself and your place in the world. It is about going through the world lost, only to realize that strength comes from within. And as cheesy as it sounds, it is something we all need to hear.
This book is also filled with prophecies and the tenuous grasp one has on the future. About how what one predicts can lead to disastrous events. How no one can truly know what the future holds.
Now, why have I not talked about the plot? Well, because I feel as if anything I would have to say would be a spoiler. I also feel as if the plot isn’t the main takeaway to this book. Yes, it’s a good story, but it’s more than that. There is just something past the words that gives meaning to this book.
